How to Find Active Telegram Groups and Avoid Dead Ones
Member count is the least reliable signal a Telegram group can show you. A group with 200,000 members and a dead chat is worse than a 2,000-member group with daily conversation.
Check the chat, not just the count
Before joining, open the group preview (via t.me/s/groupname for public channels) and scroll recent messages. Timestamps tell you everything: minutes-old activity beats a big number attached to a chat that last spoke three weeks ago.
Watch for bot inflation
If a group gained 50,000 members overnight with no matching spike in messages, that growth almost certainly came from a bot service, not real interest.
Use a curated directory
Every listing on telegramgroups.app is reviewed before it goes live, and you can sort by newest or most members on any category page to compare options quickly instead of guessing from a search engine.
